Chief Medical Officer,
Sowmya Viswanathan is Chief Medical Officer at Tenet Health’s 7 hospitals based in Massachusetts and South Carolina. In this role, he has oversight of all clinical quality and program development in addition to strategic and fiduciary responsibilities for the performance of the hospitals.
Dr. Viswanathan is a healthcare executive with over 15 years’ experience in leadership roles, and has worked with large regional health systems. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine and has extensive experience in progressive healthcare management experience as a physician executive in acute care hospitals, health systems and multi-specialty physician practice settings.
He completed his Internship, Residency and Chief Medical Residency at Boston University and received an MBA from University of Massachusetts, and a Masters in Health Care Management from Harvard University. He is an Instructor and Program Director at Harvard T.H.Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University. Previously, he was Chief ACO Officer at Dartmouth Hitchcock Health. He has also held senior executive physician leader positions at Southcoast Health.
