Pearl Han Ashcraft
Owner, Sackets Harbor Brewing Co.
Pearl Ashcraft is the owner of North Country Operating Corp, which she turned around from a loss-making, indebted hospitality business to one that has an award-winning beer brand and successful new markets for its baking products. Ms. Ashcraft comes from a Korean background through her mother who met her father while he was serving in the U.S. Army.
Her career has included being an off-air reporter for ABC News as well as working on the editorial desks of Rolling Stone Magazine, George Magazine and American Media Inc. In 2008, she had an opportunity to switch into running a business when she acquired a group in the micro brewing, commercial banking and restaurant industries which required a turnaround. She successfully negotiated a financial restructuring that included a significant capital infusion and a complete management change, rescuing the troubled assets. Her leadership team slashed debt, cut expenses and exploited the natural synergies between the businesses. The baking and brewery products now reach to the Canadian border and as far south as the Pennsylvania borders from the company’s base in northern New York. Its 1812 Amber Ale is an award winning beer.
Ms. Ashcraft attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Communications.
