Jennifer Cheng is a Mergers & Acquisitions partner at Reed Smith LLP. She has been practicing law since 2006 and joined Reed Smith after eight years in two leading U.S. law firms (Weil Gotshal; Paul Hastings). Ms. Cheng regularly represents Fortune 500, international and middle market companies in a wide range of corporate transactions both domestic and cross-border, including public and private mergers, asset and stock acquisitions and divestitures, auctions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and private equity investments. Ms. Cheng has particular experience in representing publicly listed companies in a variety of corporate transactions, including the sale of publicly listed companies. Ms. Cheng’s representative transactions include representing General Electric Company (GE) in the sale of its remaining 49% common equity stake in NBCUniversal to Comcast for $18.1 billion, representing management of Suddenlink Communications in the sale to Altice for $9.1 billion and representing Lehman Brothers in the sale of its equity stake in Neuberger Berman Group for approximately $1.5 billion.
Ms. Cheng actively promotes diversity and serves on the Global Talent and Diversity Council of Asia Society and is a member of the Asian Affinity Roundtable. Ms. Cheng has also spoken at events that promote representation of women on corporate boards, including Deloitte’s Board Ready Women program.
Ms. Cheng received her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
