Chengyue Jiao is General Manager of China Merchants Bank New York Branch. Over the past 10 years, he has led the company to become one of the most creative and successful Chinese banks in the U.S., specializing in M&A financing practice, asset management, and wealth management.Mr. Jiao played a critical role in China Merchants’ New York branch establishment and served as Deputy General Manager starting from 2008, and assumed the role of General Manager since 2013. Previously, Mr. Jiao held various senior leadership positions in People’s Bank of China for international business for over 15 years.
An active community leader, Mr. Jiao has improved business collaborations between China and the U.S., and promoted Sino-American cultural exchanges. Under his leadership, China Merchants has partnered with the Asia Society, China General Chamber of Commerce-USA, and the Chinese Cultural Foundation. In 2017, Mr. Jiao helped bring China Merchants Bank and the Metropolitan Museum of Art together to launch a remarkable collaboration, making CMB the first Chinese company to present a landmark exhibition at the Met. The exhibition, Age of Empires: Chinese Art of the Qin and Han Dynasties (221 B.C.–A.D. 220), brought numerous works that had never been seen in the west to New York and attracted a huge audience.
