As Vice President, Global Oral Care, Raj has global responsibility for Product Development and Early Research. Raj is responsible for the entire Oral Care Innovation pipeline, from early-stage technology development to initial launch. His group supports global commercial strategies and partners with the Global Supply Chain to deliver cost-savings goals.


Raj is a valued member of the Global Technology teams. Raj has managed all of Colgate’s Oral Care Dentrifrice Product Development and was responsible for each of our major launches in Oral Care over the past five years. These include, Colgate Total Mouthwash, Maximum Cavity Protection with Sugar Acid Neutralizer, Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief, Optic White, and Zinc in China. He also led the teams to deliver formula-simplification and annual Funding the Growth goals.


Raj joined Colgate in 1987 at the Manchester, England laboratory. In 1989, he successfully relocated the Personal Care group to Belgium and led the development and launch of several products in Europe. Raj moved to Piscataway in 1993 to lead the Global Therapeutic Group in Oral Care Product Development. Under his leadership, several toothpastes were developed, including Colgate Total Fresh Stripe, Colgate Sensitive Tarter Control and Colgate Baking Soda and Peroxide. In 1997, Raj designed and set up a world-class Research Center in India, the first of its kind for Colgate in the developing world. He effectively leveraged internal and external expertise to meet the specific challenges of the Indian market, developing specific bundles at all price points.


In 2000, Raj was promoted to head of the Asia Global Research and Technology Centers, where he developed and implemented a clear technology strategy for the Asia Division. During this time, the Technology Centers were realigne and a Global Technology Center was established in China. In 2003, Raj was promoted to Worldwide Director, Oral Care Product Development for High Growth Markets, where he identified and led several strategic initiatives for Colgate’s Global Anti-cavity Program and for Global Flavor Development. He led the development of numerous successful bundles specifically aligned to the needs of high growth markets.


Raj holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Aston in Birmingham, England.
