Senior Director, Product Management,Absolute Software

Nima Baiati is Senior Director of Product Management at Absolute Software. Absolute Software is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with offices in Vietnam, the United States and the United Kingdom. Prior to my role at Absolute I was the Head of Global Sales Strategy (Director) at Symantec (a Fotrune 500 Cyber Security company). At Symantec I was the youngest Director at the company and was promoted from an individual contributor to a Director in under 2 years. I also hold my MBA from Cornell University and my BSc. from the University of San Francisco. After graduating from university I went to work for Morgan Stanley and then made my move to tech; first at a few start-ups in San Francisco and then to large companies in Silicon Valley. I am a first-generation Persian-American, my parents both left Iran at the time of the Iranian Revolution and became the first people in their families to graduate from American universities and also the first to become American Citizens. I myself am the first of my family to be born in the United States and not only earn a graduate degree from an Ivy League university but to also become an executive in a publicly traded companies. I came from a middle-class family and saw my parents work incredibly hard and fight for the opportunities that the USA provided them to grow and advance themselves and their family. The experience of watching my parents assimilate into a new country and achieve success in their respective fields left an indelible mark on me. Being a first-generation American I want to not only to continue to strive for success but I want to become a model which other Asian-Americans can use as an example. This is especially true in Silicon Valley/IT where there is still a very large diversity gap. As an Asian-American working in an executive capacity for a tech company I feel it is my strong responsibility to advance the role of under-represented minorities in the industry and in Silicon Valley.
